The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City

China, officially, The People’s Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state located in East Asia. China has the world’s largest population population at over 1.35 billion.

At 9.6 million square kilometres, China is the world’s second-largest country by land area.
The terrain of western China is rugged and elevated, with the Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separating China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, have their sources in the Tibetan Plateau and continue to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China’s coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.
China has a long history that encompasses many dynasties and social changes and includes many ethnic cultures, all making the country very complex.

Chinese food is highly diverse, drawing on several millennia of culinary history. The emperors of ancient China held banquets where over 100 dishes were served at a time. These royal dishes gradually became a part of wider Chinese culture.

Time to visit:

China is a vast country with wide-ranging climatic conditions, so a decision about the best time to visit should be based on the regions you plan to tour and the kind of weather you enjoy.

Spring can be delightful with the average temperatures roughly the same as in autumn.
September to early October period is the most popular.
Summer (from June to the end of August) can be extremely hot and rainy.

Winter can be incredibly cold especially in the north however off season travel can also offer its rewards such as the The Harbin Winter Ice Lantern Festival.
